Hello everyone, thank you for joining us my name is Susan Sullivan. I'm a member of the admissions committee here at Columbia Business School and I'm joined by my colleague Hannah Dance. Thank you for tuning in. Now, Hannah is going to be handling the chat box, which you can see on your screen so throughout the presentation. If you have questions. Feel free to type them in and Hannah will get back to you.
But please keep in mind, there a lot more of you than there are of her so she may not get back to your question right away, she may save some to answer later on. Verbally, especially if they are you know broadly applicable to the general population so.

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for joining us today. The webinar is best viewed using Chrome through a stable internet connection.
Let's move forward here are some of the topics that were going to touch on today. First of all the benefits of the programs why you might want to do this program, then we're going to go to the actual content that would be the academics and the logistics of how it all works. Then we'll talk specifically about the admissions process and how that works an I'm sure there's lots of questions. There so feel free to chime in and finally will touch on fees and financial aid.
Obviously, an important topic so let's start with a basic question. What is Amber global and these are very internationally focused partnership programs that we have here at Columbia Business School?
Now, if we start on the bottom left with Ember Global America's and Europe and I'm just going to call it a any 'cause that's easier, that one is a partnership with London Business School, an Columbia Business School. The one on the right and the global Asia is a partnership between Columbia London Business School in Hong Kong University and both programs have a lot of similarities. They are offered in a block week format. An I'll talk about that in more detail further on.
There are 20 months long over 5 terms and both of them start in May. Each year and you'll see down at the bottom that really the difference between these 2 programs primarily lies in the locations where you're going to take classes during the core curriculum on the left a any alternates between London and New York on the right and the global Asia is primarily in Hong Kong with several weeks in London and.
New York and then a week in Shanghai so will go into a lot more detail but first I want to back up a little bit and talk about the history of the beginnings of this program and the Global A&E. America's in Europe. Our partnership with London. That was created in the year 2000. Both Columbia Business School and London Business School separately were feeling the need to create a truly global Emba program.
We've looked around, and we saw that other schools offered some internationally focused cases in their courses and a brief trip abroad sort of dipping your toes into something international and we really felt a need to create a more experiential. Emma program where students would be able to spend a significant amount of time in residents in different major international business hubs, so they really get a feel for those places start understanding how business is done differently across the world.

We'll have time for Q&A at the end, so please send through any questions you have for Susan as she goes through the presentation. If we don't get to your question during the webinar, you can follow up with Susan at sms12@gsb.columbia.edu or with me at hjd2111@gsb.columbia.edu
While still being able to maintain their career momentum and in conversations. We found that London Business School and Columbia Business School really were ideal partners for this project because both schools had academically rigorous. Amber programs with strong brand recognition worldwide. So we thought we were really peers going into this also the faculty at both schools are renowned thought leaders with really deep connections to Top level international business communities.

Thank you for having me,
So we began Annie in 2000, it grew and grew. The reputation was fabulous and by the time we got to 2009. We realized that we really needed to add Asia to the mix to make it a truly global program so we partnered with Hong Kong University, a school that's renowned for its research and hands on knowledge of Asian markets and economies. An therefore we had the first Ember Global Emba program with a presence.
On 3 continents. Now I want to give you just a couple of examples of faculty that you'll be interacting with to give you an idea of the level of thought leadership. You'll be learning from if you look on the upper left professor Sheena Iyengar is there sort of superimposed on the Brooklyn Bridge. There, her research focuses on choice and the cultural individual and situational factors that influence people's decision making processes.
But not only do our faculty do research. They are very much involved in real world applications in the business community and her work has spanned everything from employee motivation at Citigroup to chocolate displays at Godiva chocolates. If you're interested in learning more. I would highly recommend her book. The art of choosing then on the lower right. You'll see a photo of Professor Lynda Gratton. She teaches at London Business School and she has been identified as one of the Top 50 thinkers in Business Today her researches.
Really interesting it focuses on the future of work in a rapidly changing business environment, so uhm. I would really recommend her book. The shift the future of work is already here. It examines the ways in which technology globalization demographics and societal changes are profoundly affecting the workplace. But In addition to the expansion of your knowledge through interaction with our faculty. The truth is, you're going to get much of your learning.
By interacting with your fellow classmates because each year, we bring in a group of sophisticated high achieving Top performers who work in a wide variety of industries and come from every corner of the globe.
Now I want to talk a little bit about the network. You'll be joining because it's not just the 20 months that you're in class with your classmates. You are going to be joining a lifelong group of high achieving Top performers who are very supportive and eager to engage with each other. This is just a snapshot of the truly global network. You'll become part of we have 454 faculty members, they come from 30 countries.
And most of them have worked in multiple countries, so they have a real cross national focus. We have over 130 alumni clubs worldwide and this program. Emma global I can tell you from personal experience. It is a particularly close knit community. You know you're living together during block weeks. They really get to know each other. They remained very engaged as alumni. There are lots of social and business focus networking events that they attend.
Life long and not only do you have access to the alumni network of whatever school you're geographically closest to but you're going to be part of the alumni network for both Columbia and London Business School. If you do the any program that's 86,000 alums or Columbia, London, an Hong Kong University for the Asia program. That's over 100,000 alums so this, if your goal is to expand your business, or your career internationally.
Or simply to better understand how different industries function in different locations. This program is really ideal.
OK, I want to do a little quick comparison here between our two global programs. And this is all on our website. So you don't need to jot this down. But just quickly and the global A&E and M Book Global Asia for both of those you will take a total of 22 courses. Now they take place in 5 terms over 20 months and they begin in May each year.
The first three terms of those, 5 are focused on the core curriculum so for those courses are conducted in a block week format and what I mean by that is students live in their home areas and work, but they come to campus for one week each month. And when I say one week. It's really 4 or 5 days. But you have to factor in travel time on either side. So you're going to come to campus for one week each month during the first three terms.
You'll be taught by shared faculty so if you're in the any program and you're doing a class week in New York. Half of your faculty from London will be flying. Here to New York and vice versa. Same thing for Global Asia. You're taught by the Asia Faculty, the Columbia and the London now in the last 2 terms. There are electives and you can choose your electives from any of the 3 schools and if you want to continue doing block week format. There are lots of electives in that time format.
But if you live nearby London or New York, you can do one of our other time formats. Maybe one of our weekend formats. I'll go into more detail. Later, the bottom line is during 1st. Three terms core. You have a set schedule block weeks last 2 terms. Lots more flexibility and when you do the core. We provide accommodations. The hotel is all set up for you, it's included in your tuition now moving down.
There is one required international seminar. This gives you further global exposure. It's a one week class that takes place somewhere other than one of the cities in which the schools are located. You can also do a second one, but that's optional. It's not required. Now the classroom teaching method varies depending on the topic summer more lecture focused. Most are more of a case based discussion focus. It really depends on the topic.
But across all of the classes English is the language of instruction. You do have access to the career management office at all 3 schools, so if you're looking to switch jobs or just to think Supportively about your future career direction. There's that kind of support is available and you have a lifelong access to the alumni network of the all programs. Now, if you graduate from London. Global Annie from Emma Global A&E.
You will graduate with two separate degrees, one from Colombia, one from London. Business School if you graduate from the Asia program. You'll receive 1 degree, but it's jointly conford by all 3 schools.
OK let's focus more now on the core curriculum.
As I mentioned the core courses are the ones you will take in your first three terms.
Let's see if you do look Amber Global Annie, you will have a class of roughly 50 people. You do Ember Global Asia your classes roughly 40 people and you're going to be with that group that you came in with for all of your core courses during the first three terms and you'll see, there if you look at the classes really focus on all the basic business functions because, as you rise higher in your karere, an organization to levels of executive leadership.
You're going to be expected to be knowledgeable and to speak on it makes strategic decisions that involve all these aspects. So we want to make sure you have a basic level of understanding.
Now, though, you are coming in and taking your class with the entire group that you entered with we're going to break that down into learning teams of roughly 5 or 6 people. So let's say you get admitted. We're going to pass on your application to the academics team and they're going to spend months putting together the learning teams to make sure that each one has people from different locations different industries different strengths and skills.
Because you're going to learn from each other and lean on each other. You'll be doing about half of your core coursework together as a team and there is group work between the class weeks. So you know you'll be coordinating that via Skype or global Docs each team figures out how they're going to do that. But it's really a way of building that strong bond and learning from people who have a very different perspective. Now, if we go down to the.
Bottom of the slide here, you can see the months listed in that pink strip there underneath that the ones that are with the blue line that is the location of study during the core curriculum for Annie and you'll notice that it basically alternates between a week at London Business School one month a week at Columbia. The next month back and forth for the first three terms. If you do Ember Global Asia. Those are the ones listed under the pink line down at the bottom.
You'll notice that of the 11 core class weeks 6 are located in Hong Kong. Two are in London, 2 in New York and one in Shanghai. This is a really immersive program that allows you to experience other places. Other perspectives and really sort of dive into a full time student experience during that class week and yet you don't interrupt your career momentum.
Excuse me OK this slide here shows you an actual class week schedule during the core curriculum. If you look over on the right. It says faculty but what I want to point out are the different classes corporate finance decision. Models marketing strategy operations, the point. I want to make here is that during a core class week. You're going to be taking for different classes in rotation. You could see the different colors show the different classes.
And again bye week but I usually mean is 4 days. But we call it a week because you have travel time on either end and you'll notice that the day before classes start. There is a day of optional career coaching and workshop. Uh social events drinks and networking. So you know if you can fit that in that is another way of really building your network and working with career management.
Now we do provide meals during the class day class starts at 8:30. But if you get here. By 8, there is breakfast provided there's lunch provided we have an afternoon snack tea or coffee, depending on where you are, and but if you look in that lunch time slot. There you'll see, there are speaker events. There are reviews. We really try to pack in a lot during the day so that what happens is students will go and grab their lunch and then they'll go up to room and.
Listen to a speaker on the lower right there. Those were the speakers for that particular week someone from Hermitage.
Capital Management, but also a Formula One Racing Team Director. Uh really we really utilized the local business community to expand our students experience.
But I think the overarching message of this slide is that you should expect a full day all week. Long you're in Class 3. Three hour classes. There are speakers, and social events and so it's a good idea as you're considering this and starting to come to pave the way by speaking with your employer. You want to manage expectations because while it's true that students do pop out of a class to answer a Phone call or?
You know a dresser really critical email, mostly you should just be focused on class as much as you can manage their expectations that you are not available during your class week, the better it is for you.
OK, all right now, we had been focused before on the core curriculum. Once you get to the elective terms, those last 2 terms. The structure changes. The schedule becomes much more flexible and you're really going to broaden your network because you'll be with people other than just your incoming class now, what's the same about core an elective is that flights are not included. You have to cover your transportation costs meals are included. We're going to feed you the whole time, you're in the program.
The difference is that in the last 2 terms. There are no accommodations provided that's because you can choose where and when you're going to study you can if you like choose to take all your classes in one location. That's most convenient to you, or you could continue to study at different campuses as I mentioned before if you live near Columbia or London Business School. You can even have the option of taking your class in our weekend time formats rather than sticking to the block week.
But if you do continue to follow the block week format. You found that really works well for you. There are plenty of options available. Columbia had I think somewhere between 15 and 20 block week elective options. Each term and London Business School has a comparable amount as does Hong Kong, so wide variety of block week electives. But it works, a little differently than the core remembering the core you're taking 4 classes in your rotating each one during the week.
During electives you're just taking one class in a week, so start to finish the class is done in that one week and because they are offered throughout the term you're not necessarily going to take one week each month. If that works for you, great but maybe you have a month at work. That's particularly busy you don't have to take class that month, you could double up and take two classes in another month. You really have total control over your schedule during the electives.
And the other benefit is that you're going to be mixing with students from the other programs so all of our m'bow global programs. Many of our weekend programs actually will be taking the elective block week courses so you're going to expand your network there.
OK, one elective I'd like to focus on is the international assignment or seminar. It's a required elective. I would say often. It's a highlight of the program. Basically, it's a class. That's roughly one week in length and you're going to travel to a location with a faculty member who is an expert in that area. You're going to spend some time in class learning about the context of the place and whatever the topic is.
We're also going to be doing corporate visits. You'll have local guest speakers coming in lots of cultural and social activities. It is a great way to meet and bond with students from across all RM but programs across all 3 schools again really broadening your network and each location has a specific academic focus couple of examples one. One classes in Cape Town and it focuses on entrepreneurship, both small very micro kind of entrepreneurial ventures up to.
Divya Menon
12:22:20 PM
Do we get to choose where we do our international assignment?
Large scale uh Oh. Gosh, one of our alums is a owns a media conglomerate. Another owns a wine vineyard, so you actually go visit. These places and meet with these entrepreneurs now. Another example is the international seminar that goes to Beijing and Shanghai and that focuses on doing business in China and then if you look at that picture right in the middle of the screen that is a shot of our.
International seminar in Munich, which focuses on experience branding and always takes place during Oktoberfest, so that is a very popular choice during the international assignment or seminar accommodations are provided and they are included in your tuition. It's not an additional cost you, however, are responsible for your flights. You can do a second international seminar. It's optional, but you there would be an additional fee for that.
Hannah Dince
12:23:01 PM
Yes, each student gets to choose from the list of international assignment/seminar locations that Susan was just running through.
OK let's see me, I do want to pivot a little and talk about the career management options. You are going to have access to the career management services at all 3 schools and within our career management center CMC we call it. We have a team of professionals who work exclusively with the Ember population because they understand that, your needs are going to be a little different in terms of career development.
Then those of our full time MBA candidates, whereas the full timers are all looking for a job post MBA because they're not currently working embas are required to work throughout the program. Generally, they're more focused on their long-term career advancement rather than making a big 180 degree career switch, but it's honestly, not really designed for a huge change in both industry and function. The reason this kind of change is difficult and Ember.
Is because you're working full time and there's no opportunity to do an internship but That being said. We do see a lot of people in Ember Pivot or make an unexpected change because suddenly they're exposed to new ideas. New people and a lot of opportunities are going to come your way as part of this program whether it's through the faculty or through your classmates who are actually going to be one of your best resources. But you will have a career advisor who can help you reflect on your long term plans.
And identify your best path forward now. Gosh, if you think back to that of the graph. I showed you of how you spend your day during lunchtime. There are all kinds of career management workshops and resources available to help you define and hone your personal brand lay the foundation for your professional advancement, they can provide guidance on CV review your elevator pitch networking skills. They provide mock interviews and salary negotiations to really prepare you for those moves.
That you want to make and importantly, they can help you navigate our alumni database to make important connections.
And even if you're not looking to immediately switch jobs. CMC is just a great resource for general professional development, they offer all kinds of workshops on things like time management. Delegating managing conflict in the workplace, etc. Things you can really put into into use right away.
And I think something that's really helpful to know is that they understand how busy you are so they make themselves available during your lunch break there. There, the day prior to the start of classes there available over the Phone over Skype and they offer lots of on line resources as well because they want to be as accommodating of your schedule as they can be.
OK, now that we've talked a lot about the program itself. I want to shift gears and talk a bit about the admissions process and what we look for here in the admissions office 1st for Emma global full-time employment is a requirement. You're expected to be employed. When you apply an to remain employed throughout the program. However, if you're an entrepreneur. You are your own boss. You do freelance consulting that's fine that is also we understand.
Full employment another thing that we're going to look for is we're going to ask, do you have a trans national role or ambition? When we're considering whether you're a good fit for global that's a big part of it. It's really what differentiates Amber Global from our other executive MBA programs so generally our students have either already worked across borders. Or maybe their firm is expanding internationally and they're looking to gain a more global network in mindset to prepare for that.
In other words, we want to see some reason why an internationally focused program really makes sense for you. We do look for management experience. But we have a pretty broad definition of that it can mean managing teams of people. It can also mean managing budgets processes or projects. We are looking to see demonstrated leadership. We're looking for people who have been in some sort of decision making role and we definitely look for upward career growth.
And then maybe basic very basic requirement is does the programs block week format and travel schedule seem feasible for you do you have a job in a life that can accommodate that schedule so I would encourage you to start discussing that with your employers early. We do require a time sponsorship letter from your company as part of the application.
In other words, we want a letter from your company saying they understand what the schedule is and they agreed to let you miss work weeks to attend classes and then equally important. You need to discuss this with your partner your family your friends they need to understand what the level of commitment is going to be for you, you really need to have their buy in and support for this to work.
Sara Ramirez
12:28:34 PM
I am going to finance my MBA, and I expect to have another job after my MBA. In this case, can the Career dept help me with that?
So I would encourage you to do a lot of self reflection. How motivated are you to do this. It's challenging takes a big commitment on your part. You need to really want this because it's difficult and it's your enthusiasm and the support and enthusiasm of your classmates that is going to help you get through and get the most out of what we offer I should mention there down in the bottom that you must be fluent in English classes are conducted in English.
We do not require any other languages, though most of our Emma Global students do speak several that's not a requirement and then over there on the right you can see the class profile of recently entering class. It's the any class and the Asia class combined so you can see, there's an average year of of work experience is 12. That's the average. We have people on both sides of that. But as I said, We are looking for people with management experience.
OK and here this is the class profile for industries.
Hannah Dince
12:29:37 PM
The Career Management Center will be happy to work with you to make a job transition so you land where you want to post-MBA as long as your search is aligned with the type of transition EMBA-Global can facilitate!
And I I do want to put in a plug for the website if you go to our website.
And actually look at the student directory's for the last several years. You'll see more details on the actual industries. Companies locations that our students have come from to give yourself a sense of if that feels like the right fit for you, but looking just at these numbers. No surprise finance is the highest number our schools are located in financial capitals. So we do attract candidates with finance backgrounds. About 1/3 of the class each year comes from a finance background.
But you'll see that more than 60%.
Hannah Dince
12:30:44 PM
For those self-financing their MBA, the Financial Aid Office will be an excellent resource for all questions.
Come from a wide variety of other industries. We really feel it's important, and are proud of the fact that this program gives you the opportunity to gain different perspectives from people in different industries and cultures really gives you a new way of approaching challenges so that's just a little hint when you're doing your application something you should be thinking. About is you go through is not only what will you gain from the program but what will others gain by having you there?
What will you add? How will the class benefit from your background and perspective we like to see both of those things in an application.
Divya Menon
12:31:16 PM
I would imagine if we're self-employed, we don't need a time sponsorship letter, right?
OK, I apologize I have a cold, so I cough here and there, I'm going to just say sorry. Let's talk about the specifics of the admissions process now first thing I want to emphasize is that it is a holistic process. We genuinely want to get to know you not just professionally and academically, but also personally so there are no minimum scores or minimum number of years of experience no quotas no cut offs.
Hannah Dince
12:31:38 PM
For those who are self-employed, we ask that you provide your own letter of time sponsorship on your company
Hannah Dince
12:31:46 PM
's letterhead.
It is a rigorous program so we do want to feel confident that you can manage the academics. But what we emphasize most when we're evaluating candidates is professional achievement. We look for substantial work experience. That's international in nature. We think a lot about are you at a point in your career in your life where you're going to benefit from what we offer and we think a lot about how is everyone else going to benefit by having you in the class so let's go through these points?
Shuchi Zhang
12:32:04 PM
Hello nice meeting you virtually. what are the specific requirements for application besides currently employed, and I would assume at certain level of the position?
Hannah Dince
12:32:30 PM
If you have further questions regarding specific application requirements, please follow up!
Estee one is really sort of the bottom line things that you should be thinking about when you apply which basically asks Why do you want to do this? Why do you want this specific programme? How will it help you achieve your goals so put in the time to do some serious self reflection. We want to know what your career goals are and why is specifically global focus program will help you achieve that so I urge you I'm glad you're attending this webinar read our websites visit the schools, if you can.
Uh we sometimes stream classes on line learn as much about the schools, as you can to help you answer this question.
SA2 we ask you about a challenge that you faced and how you handled it and then essay 3. We ask you to think about how you embody a global leader so that involves first of all. How do you define a global leader and then? How do you fit into that definition and this one is really more on a personal level. We can see your professional background. Elsewhere, such as your resume. But here we want to really have a sense of you personally.
Why you feel that you are an internationally focused person what in your background an goals helps you helps us? See you as a global leader next. We want 2 references. These should be professional not academic. We prefer to get one from a current supervisor if possible, but if you don't know each other very well. You or he or she is new in your role then that might not be a good choice. Other good choices are previous supervisors.
Clients perhaps someone who's not your boss, but was your supervisor on a project anyone to whom you are accountable. Professionally, who can give us lots of details on you, your performance and your potential if you work in a family business. We do not want a blood relative to write your recommendation now well. I think we already talked about international ambitions. That's pretty clear. I want to skip down to the tests, Gmat GRE.
Or, EA, which is the executive assessment and 1st of all before I talk about those. I wanted to tell you that we do not require the Toefl or the Ielts. There is no English skills test required. We're going to assess your English by reading your essays and your interview will take place in English. So we figured that's fine. We don't have to make you do another test, but we do require a gmat GRE or EA.
We do not grant waivers for this we have a one MBA philosophy. Our executive MBA programs are just as academically rigorous as our full time. MBA so that's why we have consistent requirements for both and the other aspect of this is that Emma global requires strong commitment and taking the time to study and take a test really prepares you for the schedule. You're going to have to maintain as a student.
On a regular basis, setting aside time to study.
Divya Menon
12:35:43 PM
Will we have a point of contact in the admissions office to help us get our application as competitive as possible before submitting to the admissions committee?
But again, I want to remind you that what we weigh most heavily in the application is your work experience do not stress out about the test. It's just one data point we use the test to get a sense of what your baseline academic strengths and weaknesses are we really use them. When we're putting together the learning teams to make sure that there's a balance of skills on each team we accept the Gmat GRENEA. We have no preference at all.
Take the one you're most comfortable with these tests are valid for 5 years. So if you've already taken one and it still valid that's great you're done with that.
If you have not taken a test. I would encourage you to take a look at the EA. We're going to give you the URL so if you have a pen write this down www.gmacgmaclikecat.com.
Slash EA again www.gmac.com EA. This is a fairly new test was designed specifically for Emma. It focuses on integrative reasoning. Critical thinking problem solving the kind of skills that you're already using in the workplace. There is no geometry. It's only 90 minutes. Instead of 4 hours for the other tests an it's designed to be taken with minimal preparation.
Most successful applicants say they spent between 15 to 25 hours prepping as opposed to the months and months that it can take for some of these other tests. It's just easier to fit into your busy life so like I said, We don't have a preference, but I think this is the easiest one for you to fit into your life.
Now moving down company sponsorship as I mentioned we require a letter from your employer confirming time sponsorship In other words, time left to attend classes and confirmation that you're going to continue receiving your full salary. We do not require financial sponsorship from your company. If you can get that. That's great. I would encourage you to ask for it. In fact, if you go to our website and go to the fees page.
There's a sample business case to help guide that conversation with your employer. But all we need for the application is confirmation of time sponsorship. We do need to receive official transcripts from any degree granting program that you've completed if you did a certificate program something that was not an academic degree. We don't require that you want to send it. That's fine. But it's not necessary. We do require official transcripts for every degree that you've.

Applicants should remain in touch with the admissions team in their region (i.e., those in the Americas should reach out to Columbia Business School). Members of the admissions team are available to answer questions and provide guidance throughout the admissions process (i.e., we can let you know if your work experience seems commensurate with that of our EMBA-Global students and if we recommend you proceed with an application). However, applicants do need to complete their application independently and we are unable to review/provide feedback on individual components of the application prior to submission.
And then finally interviews, we have rolling admissions process and want to point that out because it's really important instead of waiting till a certain date and then reviewing all the applications and sending decisions out at one time we review applications as they come in so we're rendering decisions an filling the classes, we go once your application is complete.
Divya Menon
12:39:05 PM
What's your mid 80% range and mean or median of the GMAT for this program?
You're going to hear from us within 6 weeks regarding whether you're being invited to interview everyone that we're considering admitting is interviewed their interviewed on campus and depending on your location. One of the schools is going to take the lead on processing your application and will conduct the interview on their campus for A&E. Columbia processes applications for people who live in north and S America Asia, Australia, New Zealand in the Caribbean.
London Business School processes applications for Europe, Africa and the Middle East for Global Asia, Hong Kong University processes all the applications and conducts interviews there.
So whatever school process your application that's the school in the location where you will have your interview done. However, if for some reason one of the other schools locations is more convenient for you, we can arrange to interview you elsewhere and what happens is the school that led the way in your process will write up an interview report. But all three of the schools, read it. We have a weekly Phone conference an we make decisions on applications.
Who will be admitted together?

For those taking the GMAT, we encourage you to aim for a score above 600. For those taking the Executive Assessment, we encourage you to aim for the high 140s/low 150s. For those taking the GRE, you may use the tools available online to put in your quant and verbal scores and receive an estimated equivalent GMAT score to see if you are in that 600+ range.
OK fees and financial aid. This is obviously an important topic if you look on the website. We have the actual amounts there. The fees for people doing entering Global Anian May 2020, the entire tuition and fees is 200 and one thousand $720,000. That's US dollars. The Fever Global Asia is 189 thousand 600. Now these amounts are all inclusive.

Had a question on Academic transcripts - international degrees can be send as such or does it need a conversion before sending?
It covered tuition they cover all your books, which will be mailed to you at your home or office. They cover tutoring in the quantitative core classes. It covers accommodations during the first three terms when you're doing the core curriculum and accommodations during your one required international seminar. It covers breakfast lunch and snacks throughout the entire program, but it does not cover is transportation costs and it does not cover accommodations during the elective terms, the last 2 terms.
We do have need based financial aid available primarily in the form of loans, the financial aid office of the school that processes your application will be happy to offer guidance and you can find contact info posted on our website for the financial aid office is most of our students cover the cost of the program through a combination of loans personal savings and full or partial employer support. Again, I would encourage you to ask your employer about the possibility of.
Some form of financial support you're going to have to talk to them to obtain time sponsorship. So you might as well. Ask about financial sponsorship and again. I refer you to the downloadable business case on our website that has tips for this conversation.

For those who attended an undergraduate institution where the transcript was not issued in English, we ask that you have your transcripts translated prior to submission. However, the grades should be submitted as is (do not convert them to a US 4.0 scale, etc).
OK next steps well first of all to name for this webinar is a great first step. I hope you learned a lot about the program and the process. Other ways to learn more and move forward with your application is you can are you can send in your CV for review on the next slide. I'll have the email addresses for each school I would encourage you to start developing your business case an prepare for that discussion with your employer and of course, the discussion with your loved ones.
And really I would start right now looking into your test options and start prepping again. I encourage the executive assessment. It is probably the least stressful choice, but don't don't procrastinate don't leave that off to the last minute. You'd be surprised once you get that done the load that you feel. That's been lifted. Then you can really focus on the rest of the application. And if you're in the area contact. One of the schools to arrange a class visit or to speak with current students.

Hi there, is there a single application option available for the Columbia EMBA vs the GEMBA?
New application deadlines for both the global and Asia programs are listed at bottom right that final March deadline. That's in the spring. The earlier deadlines. There really gold poses to help you set your site on a specific date and motivate you remember, we have a rolling admissions process filling the classes. We go so applying earlier in the cycle is always to your advantage don't wait do not wait for the final deadline.
Get your application in ahead of the crowd and another note is if you are admitted it can take some time to process a student visa for you so really your life will be so much simpler if you apply in our admitted early and can get everything set up and ready to go with minimal stress.
Finally, I see that Hannah has been typing away and we have a few questions. I figured we could answer beautiful perfect. Let's start. With those so Suzanne 1 question that we've gotten is could you talk a little bit about some of the ways that the m'bow global can support entrepreneurs or those interested in going into entrepreneurship, maybe after their NBA definitely yeah, actually there.
I can think of several students who who started companies either during the program or shortly thereafter. I can speak most specifically regarding Columbia's offerings, although I do know that both London Business School in Hong Kong have similar entrepreneurial support. But here at Columbia. I would encourage you to go on our website and look at the Lang Center for entrepreneurship, Eugene Lang Lang.

Applicants should apply to one program at a time. No, unfortunately there is a separate application required for the Columbia EMBA programs that is different from the EMBA-Global application.
Basically, we have a whole, UM selection of courses that can help you make the shift to an entrepreneurial karere. One of them, launching new ventures. Basically, you pitch your business idea to a different VC professional each week, and they critique your pitch. Some people by the end of the class do get some kind of funding. But what everyone comes out with is an incredibly well refined pitch that is going to be successful.
There are classes, such as the greenhouse, where people who have a business plan come in. You have to not just bid for this class. You have to actually write something about what your business plan is and be selected and you throughout the class are working on your idea with faculty support. There's a competition. There seed funding at the end of it for the Top choices. We also have.
Columbia lab and get the actual name of it, but it's an opportunity to actually work on your entrepreneurial venture. After you've graduated from the program with discounted space in a we work environment with continued faculty support and funding really lots. And lots of details. If you go on the Lang Center. Excuse me web page that was very helpful. Thank you Suzanne.
Um so shifting gears a little bit. We have some questions about the actual application and admissions process. Could you tell those on the line? How the admissions committee will view undergraduate GPA's at? How undergraduate or prior academic performance factors into the decision making process. The definitely that's a good question. That's what I mean when I said.
It's a holistic review process now anyone applying to RMB global program probably has a significant work experience track record so for instance, for our full-time program people have only been out of college a few years, usually so grades that they accomplished in college mean more because they don't have a lot else for us to look at but for Emma.
You know, we're going to look at your grades. We want to see what you did, and how well you did, but if we see that perhaps your grades weren't great. But you've had steady career growth. Your recommendations attest to your performance and your potential you have a test score that shows us that you can handle the academics, then you're undergraduate grades are are so far in the past that they're just less important we really look at each aspect of your application.
Within the context of the rest of your story.
Awesome thank you. Suzanne and so another question in that same vein was just going back to what you were saying about the rolling admissions process and the timeline could you just clarify for those listening in exactly what happens from when they hit submit an? What's the difference between if they hit submit let's say tomorrow versus on the deadline.
Huh well the difference is if you hit submit tomorrow. We don't have a lot of other applications competing with yours. We have more time. So basically it's the same process. It's just that. We will look at yours, and will be able to get back to you probably sooner than 6 weeks 6 weeks is the maximum that it will take us to review your application and get back to you.
Tomorrow we would probably get back to you sooner and in either case you would then either be told sorry no or were interested in therefore, we want to interview. You we would interview you on campus, depending on which school is processing. Your application and then once you've had the interview. You'll get a final decision within 2 weeks. So there are just right now, a lot of spots available in the class, whereas if you apply.
In March, uhm you know the class. We had been filling the class. So it's fewer spots available and therefore it's more competitive and also as I mentioned it's just easier for you to know what you're doing next may sooner rather than later because you can get all your life, Ducks in a row.
Absolutely absolutely more time to plan, especially for those visas is always great. Susan, a another question that we got for you and I know we're almost at times, so figure. Ask you to more the first was could. You talk a little bit about? What are some of the resources that students have access to as Columbia Business School alums?
Sure, well. Gosh, I think my all time favorite benefit of being an alumni here is that we have lifelong auditing privileges so let's say there was a class that you really wanted to take it just didn't fit in your schedule after you've graduated you can contact us and as long as we have a seat available. You know, obviously currently enrolled students have priority. But if there are seats available in the class Anna Lumpkin sit in and take that class for no charge.

For financing, is Post 9/11 available?
You don't get academic credit for it. It's not on the transcript. But you can actually take the class and depending on where you live, you know that's why the block weeks are great. Let's say you don't live nearby, but you take for 5 days off work you can come to campus and take a class. There's also alumni clubs worldwide and the alumni clubs are really great for lots of reasons, one is just.
You know a social contact with a high achieving professional network. There's lots of social and networking events. There are speakers from the local business community faculty tend to do speaker events at the alumni club. So you can stay on Top of developing research in different areas of industry and we actually. Oh, one thing. I want to mention we have a new Dean, an one of the initiatives that he's working on.

Hi Chad, please reach out to the Financial Aid Office at finaid@gsb.columbia.edu or by phone at 212-854-4057
Is to provide lifelong learning besides the ability to come an audit a class? He wants to put more of our classes in a digital format so that you could review class information and hear about really cutting edge research from our faculty, regardless of where you are living, but that's just a few just a few and of course, there's a wealthy one last thing is, you have alumni access to the career Management Center.
For the rest of your life so if you're making a shift later on in your life, you can always check back in with them for support.
All those resources plus our colleagues over at London Business School would be happy to talk to you about what types of resources and access. You have as LBS alarms as well so for our last question before we go. Suzanne someone on the line was wondering if you could talk a little bit about opportunities to work one on one with professors are are their chances to do that. If so how do you go about?
Accessing those opportunities I'm definitely they do exist. Probably the primary way in which people do that is to take what we call an independent study as one of their electives. In other words, if there is a certain research area. You want to pursue or a project that you're working on you would just connect with you know you can see on the website? What each of our faculty members focus on.

Essays as per the website has a word limit....thats strictly followed?
And when you start the program you're going to be meeting faculty members in your classes. You're going to be learning? Who is doing. Watt that interests. You and you would just make that connection. You would say this is what I'd like to work on and I would love it. If you could be my faculty mentor for this project and together you would agree upon what the deliverables would be and you know how many credits it will be 4 and that happens quite frequently.
Fantastic both better now that is, it for now season. Thank you so much for answering all of those questions. I know everyone found not super helpful. Thank you for typing. All those answers Hannah. I'm sure that was super helpful, too, thanks everyone. We appreciate you tuning in. We are going to later send you an email thanking you for being here and it will have our email addresses, so if you think of any questions later on. Feel free to reach out to us we are happy to connect.

Hi Deepa - if your essay comes in shorter that's fine, but we ask that you do not go beyond the word limit and use those limits as a guideline for how long the essays generally are
And we hope to see all your applications have a great rest of your day or evening, thanks bye.
